Canelo Victorious On Cinco De Mayo Weekend

Canelo vs. Daniel Jacobs Recap

After a quiet opening round, Canelo began to find success working the body of his American opponent, with Jacobs looking to stay behind his jab. Alvarez was also countering well to anything that Jacobs threw. Round three saw the Mexican land some nice combinations. Despite Jacobs trying to get a foothold in the fight, Canelo was simply out working him.

During the next couple of rounds, Canelo appeared to be cruising and just doing enough, mostly working off his jab, but by far the busier fighter. Despite Jacobs starting to increase his workload, Canelo was still landing the cleaner work. In round nine, Jacobs landed the best shot of the fight for him, with a solid left, which stopped Alvarez in his tracks.

Roud ten saw Jacobs push Canelo back against the ropes and let his hands go for the first time in the fight. The American had more joy in this round but Alvarez was still the busier fighter, continuing his promising work from the previous couple of rounds.

Despite the New York native having success in the final round, Canelo answered back, working the body and heady of Jacobs, and despite Jacobs taking more chances later in the fight, his best ultimately wasnt enough as Alvarez added the IBF strap to a growing collection of titles.
