Angels Listed Toward the Bottom of Farm System Rankings
USA TODAY Sports

It's been over a decade since the Los Angeles Angels have had a farm system ranked within the top 10. Unfortunately, it will remain that way and will likely trend this way moving forward.

According to a Bleacher Report article ranking all 30 MLB farm systems, the Angels came in at No. 27. But hey, at least they're ahead of the Houston Astros, who are ranked dead last.

On that list, the Angels had a few players who spent time on the MLB roster last year including Nolan Schanuel, Kyren Paris and Trey Cabbage.

Schanuel is currently ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Angels organization right now, and for good reason. After being drafted with the 11th pick in last year's MLB Draft, Schanuel found himself playing on the MLB roster after just 21 minor league games.

During that time, Schanuel broke a franchise record that is currently active right now by reaching base in 29 straight games.

Following Schanuel is right-handed pitcher Caden Dana and outfielder Nelson Rada who are both in High-A ball.

Last season, Dana pitched in 14 games for the Angels and held a 3-5 record with a 3.56 ERA in 68.1 innings.

Rada was just as impressive with the Inland Empire 66ers. In 115 games, he slashed .276/.395/.346 with two home runs, 48 RBIs, 13 doubles, 73 walks, and 55 stolen bases.

While it will take a few more years for both Dana and Rada to reach the MLB level, they both will provide some major help for the Angels. Last year, the Angels pitching staff ranked 23rd in ERA at 4.64.

They also were one of the least aggressive teams on the base paths last year, stealing just 72 bases. Rada's speed could make an immediate impact for the Angels and would help create more run opportunities.
