Grizzlies To Sign DeJon Jarreau To 10-Day Hardship Deal
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Memphis Grizzlies intend to sign shooting guard DeJon Jarreau to a 10-day hardship contract, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Jarreau, 26, is 6-foot-5 and has been playing for the Memphis Hustle of the G League. As Wojnarowski noted, he’s averaging 21.6 points, 9.7 rebounds and 8.6 assists over the past 10 games with the Hustle. For the season (36 games), he’s at 14.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

The Hustle acquired him in a trade with the Capital City Go-Go in December.

Jareau has appeared in one NBA game, with the Indiana Pacers in 2021-22. He also signed a 10-day deal with the Houston Rockets that season but failed to appear in a game.

Memphis now has a full 15-man roster after signing forward/center Wenyen Gabriel to a hardship exception.

Te4ams can sign players to hardship exceptions if it has at least four players who have missed three or more straight games due to injury or illness and are expected to remain out for at least two more weeks.

The injury-plagued Grizzlies undoubtedly meet such criteria — with Ja Morant, Desmond BaneMarcus Smart, Brandon ClarkeDerrick Rose, and Ziaire Williams all sidelined.
